Inspired by Mucha/Art nouveau posters, I combined the Western elements with Asian elements to create a piece about the metaphorical death and rebirth that occurs through suffering. The concept that one can learn to dance through the pain because fire not only destroys, it also creates and cleanses. Much like fire, dance is also a form of creation like the deep red of the jacket and both allow transmutation. The skulls and flowers allow for this to really be seen as "where there is ruin, there is treasure to be found" (Maulana Rumi).

Inspired by Mucha/Art nouveau posters, I combined Western elements with Asian elements to discuss the chaos of creation. The lion skull represents the courage to move forward through the darkness of the unknown while the roses symbolise both the beauty of life and the dangers of achieving it. He holds a small, misty globe and wonders how to navigate through such a complex maze of creation and destruction while time blooms on with disregard to his worries. Inevitably, it also stands above the skull connoting the looming shadow of death. The pondering and the pain is rounded off by the comforting wisdom of Ghalib ("be-gaange-e-khalq se be-dil na ho Ghalib/ kohi nahin tera tou meri jaan khuda hai")
